Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while local people in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and implementing penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from municipal representatives.
